Window Decorations: Getting Into The Holiday Spirit

You know it’s time for you to do some redecorating work but you still can’t decide how. You can start with your windows and make them the highlight of you holiday season home improvement. You can spruce up windows in an unlimited number of ways. Here are some useful tips to get you started.

Glass Art:

Using window film is a splendid way to add style to your windows. You can obtain this film online or you can check the nearest home improvement store. Go for those in green and red for a more conventional Christmas look, or white and aqua to create a winter wonderland theme. Holiday-specific designs are also available. Whatever type of decorative window film you select, you do not need to worry about the cost as these films are sure to fit your budget.

Decorating with frosted window film can be a DIY project to share with your kids. Draw Christmas season figures such as candy cane, snowflake, or star shapes on a cardboard and cut them out using stencils or cookie cutters.

You can now use the shapes as guide to cut out figures of the film. Be careful in using the sharp tools and remember to use a cutting board or mat. This is to make sure not to damage your table or any other surfaces. You can also create strips of window peel and attach them on all sides of the glass pane, or just the top and bottom portions.

Another creative option is to do art on the film itself. Make artistic designs with tube paint or rubber stamps. You can also use the printer and have images, photos or drawings added.Aside from design flexibility, window peel is mostly preferred because it can be applied and removed easily without damaging the surface.

Drape and Dangle:

Windowsills are perfect for hanging decorations. Go for the usual lights and wreaths. Ribbons in holiday tones and designs add to the joyful ambiance.Garlands and boughs studded with pinecones and red berries can turn heads as well. Combining creativity and usefulness is very practical. Hanging the stockings on the window sill rather than by the fireplace is a good example. You may even place snow globes if the sill is sufficiently broad.

Box Appeal:

Left dull during the winter season, window boxes can be used for decorative purposes. You can overlay them with artificial evergreen garlands or stuff them with pinecones and some toys. Big ornaments including smaller Christmas trees can be used as excellent accents. Just ensure that those you put in the box are suited for outdoor use. Otherwise, they can be ruined from exposure.

This season, you can make your windows come alive with simple treatments. All you need is a bit of originality, artistic imagination, and initiative to gather the material you need. You can even turn it into a perfect time for drawing together with your family, especially if the snow outside is bad. Aside from making your home a pleasant sight for neighbors and passers-by to enjoy staring at, doing these tips can provide precious time  to be shared by your loved ones.
