Stir the stew as it simmers,
Dinner tonight
a suspicious delight.
Set the table, where’s the sharp knives?
No matter you’ll soon arrive.
I’d ask you to carve,
but by then I could starve.
Come close now for a final kiss
I want you to know what I shall miss.
Easier than I thought, ripping your heart out,
escaping, a gurgling, muffed shout.
Pulse still pounding on the plate,
Sit now, or dinner’ll be late.
Don’t slump over please, it’s such bad form,
Let me eat while the delight’s still warm.
