How can I adhere mosaic tiles to cermaic tiles?
I have mosiac loose tiles I want to make a pattern and adhere it to my cermaic tiles to cover them. I am making a ocean theme bathroom and the white tiles and green tiles do not look good so I thought of covering them. I know to sand down the tiles for no glossy polish then adhere with caulk and that would be it. Is this right? Please let me know.
It would be better to remove the old tiles before putting new ones down, if this is not possible, sand the top gloss off as you have said and use a commercially available tile cement to stick them down. Make sure you pick one that is suitable for wall tiles as it is designed to hold the new tiles vertically. Once they are set in place simply grout or caulk in the gaps as with any other tiles. Go to your local hardware store and ask for some advice from someone in the appropriate section about which tile adhesive would be best. It would pay to take in a sample of the mosaic tiles too. With sanding the old ones back, you need to take them back to the ceramic part, not just take the gloss off, otherwise the cement won’t grip and they’ll fall off in a few months. Good luck.
