A Guide To Italian Kitchen Décor

For some women, kitchen décor is more important than the décor of rest of the house. Italian kitchen décor is usually the favorite theme for many. It adds to the charm of the house, and makes a beautiful place for family to sit together and enjoy sumptuous meals. Tuscan style is one type of Italian design that incorporates warmth of earth tones, and makes use of natural materials. Tuscan look may seem expensive, but it is also possible to achieve this look without robbing a bank.

Aspects Of Italian Kitchen Décor

To get a true Tuscan look, choose the colors that mimic the Tuscan landscape such as earth tones, rich gold or various tones of the sea. It is also a good idea to replicate the colors of Majolica pottery to add the color to the walls and floors for Italian kitchen décor. It is however important to use the natural materials such as slate, terracotta, stone or granite for countertops and flooring. It will complete the look of Italian kitchen décor.

In the Italian kitchen décor, the lighting should be of older style, and avoid using any modern patterns. It is a good idea to use the lights made of antique wrought iron. To complete the Italian kitchen décor, it is important to avoid the lights with shiny look, and better option is to choose the ones with muted metal finish.

There is an extensive range of kitchen accessories available for the Italian kitchen décor, but they can be quite expensive. It is a good idea to check out the local antique store to get some authentic antiques. Pottery pitchers and bowls, and painted wooden bowls add to the authentic Italian kitchen décor. Everyday pottery items can be decorated with ropes of garlic or peppers, and can be put in the corners. Greenery of herbs in pots can be used to soften the look a bit.

For Italian kitchen décor, the windows treatment should be either a dramatic flair or subtle roll down shades. But avoid anything that has too many frills, and use the muted colors or earth tones. It is a good idea to keep the round wrought iron with glass or mosaic top in the kitchen to complete the Italian kitchen décor.

Italian kitchen wall décor should be in natural and warm colors. Texturing the walls or faux painting them gives a look of rough plaster, and adds to the theme of Italian kitchen décor. Floors should be on the darker side such as brick, slate or dark shade of wood do nicely.
