i have 2 butterflies in a glassed case and frame and a 8 horned madagascar beetle also in glass case?
does anyone know where i can get them valued as they were bought 20 years ago at grenwich market london
it will depend on the species. Unless it any is a rarety it won’t be worth much, maybe a pound if they are still in very good condition. And if you bought the on a market it is very doubtful they will be rare species. The frame will be worth more than the insect also depending on construction quality and elaboration.
Also I don’t know any 8-horned madagaskar beetle, are you sure it’s not a 5-horn rhinoceros beetle, though I think that’s an asian species.
I doubt it will be worth the money to get it valued. And for identifying species your best chance is to ask an entomologist. Look at your closest university for one.
You can also type in insect specimens into google and you will find a number of companies which specialize in selling insects. Usually they also have images of the insect they sell, so you can look if you find your insects on there.
You can also try any insect guide (there are enough online as well), though you would have to know what country they are from at least.
